IN LOVING MEMORY OF MOTHER GLORIA V. CODY

Mother Gloria V. Cody was a Holy Ghost filled lover of the Lord Jesus Christ whose heart was filled with a plethora of Christian songs from an eclectic mix of praise and worship. The powerful inspirational video represented at the bottom of this site displays the eulogized version of the Homegoing of Mother Gloria V. Cody; also known as “Aunty Vicky”; Eulogized by her eldest son, Min. David J. Cody 6 days after her unexpected death. Although there is no animated movement in this particular video, it does, however, present a powerful message and testimony of the last 36 hours of her life. The Services were only audio taped, but through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the service was uplifting and a blessing to all, especially for those who knew this Wonderful Woman of God!!!

According to the Epistle of 1st Thessalonians 4:16-18, it reads, “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words”.

GLORIA V. CODY, MOTHER OF ENCOURAGING LOVE MINISTRIES

On September 24, 1944, in Detroit Michigan, Gloria Victoria Moorman, the youngest of 10 children, was born to Sammie Haliburton and Cornelius Moorman. As the “baby” of the family, she was loved by her older siblings and was given the nickname “Vicky”, which would turn out to be one of the most endearing names echoed in Moorman family history.

Gloria grew up all of her life in Detroit Michigan. She was educated in the Detroit Public School system, graduating from Commonwealth High School. She had always had aspirations of being a court reporter, but it seems that God had other plans for her.

At the tender age of 14 Gloria was introduced to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After understanding her sinfulness and the need for a Savior, Gloria received Jesus Christ into her heart and received the Holy Spirit. She remembered vividly the day God called her to be reconciled to him, and she never, ever, looked back.

She began attending a growing Apostolic church community on Halleck and Dequindre which is now known as Solomon’s Temple Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. At the age of sixteen, her natural beauty and gentle spirit would capture the heart of a 17 year-old, soon-to-be minister named Henry Cody Jr. It is uncertain how long Henry’s “wooing” persisted, but we know that on April 25^th 1965, Gloria Victoria Moorman became Gloria Victoria Cody, and gave Henry the gift of a lifetime. In their union, three children were born: David, Daniel, and Joselyn.

Early on in Gloria’s working career, she worked at Greyhound Food service as a clerk. But after the company decided to relocate out of state, Gloria found employment elsewhere, which proved to be one of the most impactful missions God had for her.

When Gloria’s and Henry’s children were of elementary school age, a position became available at Fleming Elementary School for a para-professional. By God’s providence, this was also the school all of her children attended, which allowed her to work and “keep an eye” on her children at the same time. Tutoring and giving guidance to young children, aiding teachers in their lesson planning, and preparing school wide programs and activities became a lifelong passion that lasted over 30 years both at Fleming and Wilkens Elementary Schools in Detroit.

Gloria V. Cody had a passion for service that was not isolated to just the Detroit Public School system. The same enthusiasm and sense of purpose was exemplified in the church. She served as a first lady at Victory Tabernacle Church, a Sunday School teacher, choir member, praise and worship leader, missionary, and never ending support person for the Body of Jesus Christ.

We also acknowledge Mother Gloria V. Cody in playing a marvelous part in helping to deliver thousands of letters during that time in which the Encouraging Love Ministry was sending out letters through the postal service. She stayed up late folding letters and sealing envelopes and everything she could possibly do to enhance the blossoming of this Incredible Ministry. Her work shall never be forgotten.

On the afternoon of June 1, 2015, Gloria Victoria Cody was called Home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ. There, she is joyfully excited and well satisfied.

Gloria V. Cody left behind to remember, embrace, and by the grace of God, model her example, her children, David and his wife Shonda(Diamond), Daniel and his wife Yvonne, Joselyn and her husband Troy; Grandchildren, David Cody Jr., Maria Cody, Zachary Cody, Amethyst Cody, Timothy, Titus, and Makayla Cody; her brother Donald and sister Cornealia, and a host of honorary family members, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
